Slideshows of real life events
My slide show is here I chose this because it showed the emotion the community went through with the loss of, at the time, 25 miners. There was a sign of support for the miners hanging from a house and a veteran shows respect for those who died by putting the flag at half-mast. The slide that touched me the most was the picture of the children watching the news of their dad who had died in the mine. As a mom, I think that would be the worse thing to see, is my child having to watch a terrible event that her dad was involved in. The next thing is the fact that this mine had recorded an injury rate worse than the national average for similar operations. The last slide really ends it the way this story is going to end. The end is in a church after a vigil for the victims of the blast, really bringing things to an end.

This slideshow was very impactful. I especially appreciated the photos that depicted the grief on the people's faces. The picture that showed the sign of support was my favorite because it made such a big statement for such a simple picture
ReplyDeleteYes this slide show was very impacting. people were very hurt about the tragedy and the slideshow does a very good job showing the emotion.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this was very impacting. It shows the grief that not only the friends and family of the miners but as a community.
ReplyDeletewhat a impacting slide show, i really liked the pictures, they evoked so much emotion that i couldnt look away!
ReplyDeleteI think that a mine collapsing is just a sign that we are over mining. Human beings take so much from the earth every day and are just hollowing it out by taking the minerals, gases, and oil within. If you think about it, oil is the earth's blood in a sense, we are sucking it dry. Gold and Diamonds and other such minerals are like the earth's insides. One day the planet may just collapse upon itself. That's just my theory though...
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great comments. I agree with you all including Ryan. I agree, I think we take so much from the earth but at the same time people have to work to take care of family and it seems to be the thing to do out there, to mine. I think everyone has to take their place in life and for these 29 that died in this horrible accident it took their lifes doing so. :(
ReplyDeleteI love the pics in the slide show! They really capture the moment, make you feel what they are feeling. The picture of the mom was so sad it almost made me cry. How horrible it must be to lose a loved one!
